Baseball Season. Whoopee.

There is one way in which I’ve utterly failed to assimilate as a Chicagoan—I honestly just don’t give a crap about baseball. None whatsoever. I don’t care if the Cubs win or lose, if the Sox win or lose, which team is better, which groups’ supporters are better, it couldn’t matter less to me. I have maybe a small statistical interest, perhaps, if a player does something historically numerically significant, but apart from chuckling a little at somebody’s obscenely high ERA or how much better one team does the week after their manager gets ejected, I couldn’t think of a more boring way to spend an afternoon or a more trite reason to argue with your friends. Or a stupider reason to live in Lakeview.

Now as for Bears football, that’s a completely different issue…
