“That’s a cute baby.”
–Sure. What do you think, boy or a girl?
“Girl.”
–No way. No self-respecting Chinese parent would dress their baby girl completely in blue.
“Hey, blue happens to be my favorite color.”
–Maybe you’re secretly a boy. Besides, you’re not Chinese. This is my world, and I’m calling ‘boy’.
“Nope. Girl.”
–We’ll settle this right here.
–Hi, excuse us, we were just admiring your baby.
“…Hi,” she nervously says. English obviously isn’t her native language.
–If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your baby’s name?
A puzzled stare, then indistinctly, “Aaron/Erin”. Then turns away.
–Uh–Um–Cool. Thanks.
–I win.
“No way!”
